National Astronomy Week

4th March 6.30pm till 10.00pm

"A close look at Jupiter"

As part of National Astronomy Week, The West Yorkshire Astronomical Society will open its doors to the public and will run a presentation entitled "Jupiter and its Moons".

Subject to weather conditions, we will have our main observatory open with our 14" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope available for observational use. We also plan to have additional telescopes out on our observation platform for use by the public. This could include our 18" Newtonian, 10" and 8" SCT telescopes, plus our 5" reverse binoculars. We also plan to astro-imaging Jupiter.

We may also have a Rocket Launch on the lawn subject to the weather.  Speak to our resident astro photographers about the best techniques for capturing stunning images of the  giant planet.

There will be a nominal charge of £3 for adults but accompanied family children are free of charge. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions as the telescopes are kept at the outside temperature.
