Fridaty 12th August 2022 - Picnic and Perseid Night

We are holding a 'Picnic and Perseid' night, which will start around 10:00pm until after midnight, so come and join us at the observatory and see how many meteor's we can count. We ask that you bring your own picnic, but hot and cold drinks will be available at our Tuck Shop. If possible bring along a garden chair (recliner would be better) a warm blanket , and lots of enthusiasm. We do have a few chairs at the observatory if bringing your own is not possible.

If it is heavy cloud and or raining , then the meteor watch will be cancelled.

Our normal open evening will be taking place with our doors opening from 7:30pm , the cost is £7 per adult or £10 per family, all under 16's are free when accompanied by parent/ guardian. Visitors arriving at 10:00pm for the meteor shower, this is free admittance, but we do have a donation box in the foyer if you would like to make a donation. All donations are much appreciated, no matter how small, it all helps with our running costs and to help provide the society with equipment.

Monday 1st August 2022 - Yorkshire Day in Pontefract Valley Gardens

On Monday 1st August, we will have a stall at Yorkshire Day in the Valley Gardens. The Event is free and opens from 11AM. Come along to say hello and safely look at the sun through one of our scopes (weather permitting)
